Slowly
Drifting, afloat. Afloat
Lightless, Move, Aware, etc, Love, Grasp, Become
At least Twelve times, glancing, glancing around
Head moving, light beams seep in
Back in the saddle, again in the saddle
Back in the saddle, again sitting on the saddle
You, reconciling with me, slowly, ever so slowly.
Poet’s Note:
Feels like New Jersey, or maybe it’s New York. The interior
is splendid. Early June last year, it feels just like yesterday.

Dr. Suh, this poem captures the moment when drifting fragments of consciousness are gathered into a single, flowing unity. Even amid the waves of samsara—Ignorance, Action, Consciousness, Love, Grasping, Becoming, etc —the repeated resolve of ‘Back in the saddle,’ mounting once again, settles gently into the reader’s inner world like slowly seeping beams of light.
A blurred space, perhaps New Jersey, perhaps New York, a splendid interior… Within the illusion of time—‘early June last year, feeling just like yesterday’—the poem generates a peculiar sense of presence. The slow, ever-so-slow merging of ‘you’ and ‘I’ leaves a profound resonance. Rising again, beginning anew, your perpetual drifting through cycles of existence arrives with a quiet, unwavering determination.
