Barefoot
-- To Matisse's painting, "Woman with Branch of Ivy" 1906
Leaves climb up the front right half
A woman stands in the shade, casting her gaze downward
Your mental state is 90% purple, tinged with violet
The left half of your belly, your flank grows warm
Your eyebrows turn red as well
Note on the Poem:
At the age of 37, Matisse follows the spirit of the time. I too was somewhat like that at that age. The ivy that climb up the woman’s body must tickle. Only half of the side is flushing up.
