Book and Parasol
-- To "Reading Woman with Parasol" by Henri Matisse (1921)
Look at the sky blue, jade green
Of my wide-brimmed hat rolling on the grass
The military green and navy blue parasol shields from UV rays
The scent of peach wafts from your face
In the V shaped space spread frontally in the T shirt
In the book leaves, book leaves, a thick necklace sways
Note on Muse:
I took it for granted this woman would read a book under the parasol. Probably the was a cloudy day. That’s why the parasol was not unfurled. I am giving her a furtive glance. Not interested in what book she is reading, I am eyeing her thick necklace.
