Sheet Music
-- To the “Woman at the Piano” by Henri Matisse (1924)
Tumbleweeds rolling about in the desert
Delicate fingerprints, eyeglass lenses
Slipped-off panties
Sheet music is an animal
The sound of a single note ringing out
Running horses, horse’s mane
I see invisible fingers blend well together
Sitting comfortably on the piano bench
The woman reading sheet music
Note on Muse:
The posture of the woman playing the piano looks comfortable. Good music comes from relaxed fingers. When I enlarged the piano sheet music, strange drawings filled it all over instead of musical notes. They looked like eyeglasses or slipped-off panties. Matisse is a truly strange artist.
