Armchair
-- To the “Young Girl in Black, in Yellow Armchair” painted by Matisse (1935)
Light pink, light pink sky on the upper right
A wad of light, light spreading downwards
Midnight blue overflowing under olive color leaves
Woman lying in a yellow chair not budging at all
Left arm long stretched out, long out to the side
Note on the Muse:
Matisse said, "Starting to paint, I felt gloriously free,
quiet, and alone." I am that way when I write poems.
