Sofa
-- To “Young Woman on the Sofa” painted by Matisse (1944)
Window Where there is no window
Brain Brain All is futile Black hair
Both decent arms and legs A firm body
Yellow Red Black Vertically and horizontally
On the young woman in a room with lines flicking
Note on the Muse:
Matisse, the magician of colors, became wheelchair bound following his intestinal cancer surgery in 1941. He continued working on "cut-outs"(of pigmented paper), among others, till he died on November 3, 1954.
