Sailboat
-- To “Lady on the Terrace” painted by Matisse (1906)
Mountain ridge curve is seen The slippery curve
A lady putting her hand on her forehead Woman
Sailboat Sailboat lady is gazing on
It used to be like that all around
The color of the world was only dim
The woman's left shoe Straight green shoe tip
Note on the Muse:
Matisse's early paintings were his careful attempts. He set the stage of putting a woman on the canvas and titled it "Lady on the Terrace." Let's just say they were the determined signals amounting to the upcoming explosion of Fauvism.
