Shadow

-- To the woman in “Nude in pink” paninted by Matisse (1935)

 

Leg Thick leg in parentheses Warm leg

One arm a lying building The other a piece of dough flake

Matisse didn't paint women

Matisse just painted pictures

There are two naked women

One is scarlet woman The other one is shadow woman

 

Note on the Muse:

Matisse's famous quote makes me flinch. “I don’t paint women… I paint pictures." He even painted a woman's physical body overlaid with her spiritual body. I see it clearly.
