Intermission

A rabbit with a faint smile
dressed in a red vest
pauses from its breathless sprint
in the loose early autumn sunlight.
With both ears perked up
you gently, gently chew on my thoughts, as if

tearing, eating cotton candy spread in the sky.

Poet’s Note:
I’m so glad I went to the Bronx Botanical Garden. A rabbit

was just sitting there. I kind of wanted to touch the long ears.
