*Leda and the Swan
-- To the woman in “Leda and the Swan” painted by Matisse (1945)
Between the red wallpapers, wallpapers
Leda's body in egg yolk yellow
The swan's neck in navy blue
It’s verbosity created by the darkness
It's taciturnity created by woman and flying beast
*Zeus, the principal god of ancient Greece, approaches Leda,
the wife of king Tyndareus of Sparta, disguised in a shape of a swan.
Helen and several children were born from the swan eggs that Leda laid.
Note on the Muse:
Greek mythology is scary but not scary.
Matisse knew it and painted this picture.
